Workday Major Feature Release on Saturday, September 21st

Twice each year, Workday releases major upgrades to its cloud-based human capital management, financial management, business planning, and student information software. The work is intended to improve functionality for users, while enhancing backend architecture and performance.

The next scheduled upgrade, called Workday 2024 R2, will be Saturday, September 21st from 2:00 AM EST to 5:00 AM EST. Workday will be unavailable to all users worldwide during this window.

While it’s typical that most updates go largely unnoticed by many users, we did want to point out that improvements to search functionality will be the most obvious change within the user interface (UI). Workday has added a “Simplified Search” toggle at the top of the search results page. Users have the option to toggle on or off this new feature.

A few of the benefits of Simplified Search include:

Displays the new Top Results which provide the most relevant and personalized search results for the search query entered by the user.
Displays a new Workday Assistant summary powered by AI in the Top Results on the search results page. The Workday Assistant summary provides personalized results for commonly searched queries such as “my team’s hire date” and “my location”.
Moves your search categories to the top of the search results page.
