The ITS Network Team will continue work on the final stage of central network upgrades in W&L’s two data centers starting on Saturday, August 7th at 10:00 PM. The work is designed to enhance campus bandwidth, improve reliability through increased redundancy, and replace central equipment.

To minimize impact to the W&L community, ITS has scheduled the work during overnight hours. Please note that all campus network and internet connectivity will be impacted during the upgrade work. Campus users should plan for outages between 10:00 PM and 4:00 AM both Saturday and Sunday evening (Aug 7th & 8th).

The W&L Network Team will be upgrading the core network on campus over the next five weeks.  This work will cause disruptions to network services. To minimize the impact to the W&L community, ITS has scheduled the work during overnight hours.  The core network upgrade will address the following:

Bandwidth Improvements:

The core network backbone will be upgraded from 20GB/s to 100GB/s.

Network Redundancy:

New Equipment and services will be implemented to increase overall network redundancy throughout the W&L network.

Equipment Lifecycle:

The current core equipment is nearing the end of its life cycle and will soon no longer receive software and hardware support.
