The following high priority network upgrades will be completed by ITS during the first week of June. Although it’s anticipated that impacts will be minimal, we wanted users to be aware of the maintenance schedule and the possibility for intermittent disruptions to wireless access on campus.

June 4th from 9:00 AM to 5:30 PM

Clearpass Network Access Software Upgrades

  • During the 8+ hour upgrade window, there will be a 2 to 3 hour period where no new guest accounts can be created.
  • Existing guest accounts should not be impacted.
  • No disruptions to faculty or staff eduroam connections are anticipated.

June 6th from 5:30 PM to 9:00 PM

Wireless Platform Upgrades

  • Intermittent disruptions to wireless connectivity will occur throughout the upgrade window. Wired connectivity to the campus network will not be impacted by the upgrade work.

New Security Certificate (SSL) on Servers and Wireless Controllers

  • The first time you connect to eduroam on or after June 6th, your computer (or other devices like phones, tablets, watches, etc.) may prompt you to accept the new certificate. Since operating systems vary, users will have different experiences with how the certificate will renew.
    • Your computer or device may silently accept the certificate without any prompts, requiring no action on your part.
    • A popup window may appear asking if you want to accept a trusted certificate. Please accept and proceed.

If you have any questions about these scheduled upgrades, please contact the ITS Helpdesk at X4357 or help@wlu.edu.
