Accessing MyApps Requires Login Credentials Both On and Off Campus

ITS has always recommended that users lock their Windows computer or Mac machine whenever leaving a device unattended. This method ensures that a password is required before resuming access and adheres to W&L’s policies for the active protection of sensitive university data.

While recent ITS policy updates have resulted in the convenience of fewer Duo prompts when accessing protected applications, the MyApps page will soon require an initial login, in exchange for this convenience. Previously, users on the campus network were able to access the MyApps page using pass-through authentication, preventing the need to actively enter a username and password. This left open the possibility of unauthorized access to critical university applications on machines left unlocked and unattended. The new policy is designed to offer protection, in the event a student or employee has chosen to bypass login protection for their internet connected device.

**HINT** If you check the “Remember me” box before signing in, you will NOT have to re-enter your Username the next time you log in using the same browser and machine. You will still need to enter your password, however.

Starting on Friday, March 5th, users will be prompted with the screen below when accessing MyApps.

As always, should you have questions about this change, please be sure to contact the Helpdesk at X4357 or help@wlu.edu.
