Dear Undergraduate and Law Faculty and Academic Staff,
ITS, in consultation with the Provost’s Office and CARPE, has formalized a training academy designed specifically for virtual instruction. Registration is open and sessions begin tomorrow! To view the offering and register, please visit http://go.wlu.edu/via.
Sessions will be offered in-person with capacity capped at 30, as well as online using Zoom with a maximum of 100 attendees. ITS intends to record all sessions in order to provide video access for those who can’t attend in-person.
Other ITS related COVID-19 response updates:
Communication: All ITS communication and response information will be available at https://itsnews.wlu.edu.
- The site will be continually updated with news and support items specific to virtual instruction and working from home.
Laptop Requests: All those required to work from home who need a laptop may request one using this form: https://go.wlu.edu/laptoprequest.
- ITS is prioritizing placement for instruction and business continuity first, then for others with need.
- For all other equipment needs, please use the Help Desk per the standard process (X4357, help@wlu.edu).
Software Updates: ITS is expanding licensing where possible.
- Zoom: Licensing will be provided for all faculty use; ITS will confirm when finalized.
- Adobe Creative Cloud: For those students currently using Adobe products, W&L has requested participation in Adobe’s offer to allow student access from personal machines off campus. ITS will confirm when finalized.
- MyVI remains available, particularly for specialty software needs and access to campus resources, and is being updated with more licensing and server resources in anticipation of demand.
- For specific software needs or questions, please inform the Help Desk and/or your Client Services support person.
Much more information to follow in the coming days. We fully understand technology is only a piece of this major challenge placed on all of us. ITS’ goal is to aid your instructional needs to the highest degree possible and, frankly, stay out of your way where you do not require our assistance! Please do not hesitate to reach out with questions or issues at any time.
Thank you,
David
